New Accessibility Features
Observatory South Harrison
In 2008 the Harrison County Community Foundation was awarded
an Access to Recreation Grant sponsored by the W. K. Kellogg
Foundation. This initiative provided funding to six projects in Indiana
and has been honored with a Council on Foundations Critical
Impact Award.

As a partner in this grant, Harrison County Parks were able to add
several features in our parks that allow persons with limited mobility
to more comfortably enjoy the outdoors.  These include:

   Buffalo Trace Park
           Accessible Fishing Pier
           Pontoon Boat
           Beach Wheel Chairs
           Camping Cabins

   Rhoad's Pool
           Submersible Wheel Chair
           Automatic Pool Lift

   Hayswood Nature Reserve
            Accessible fishing Pier

   South Harrison Park
Automatic Pool Lift and Submersible Chair
           Observatory
           All-Terrain Wheel Chair
We're always looking for ways that we can increase accessibility in
our parks.  If you have ideas, let us know.
